I love photographing families in locations that are special to them. This sweet family has been coming to Hilton Head Island, SC on vacation for awhile now and they wanted to document their time here. I don't blame them, this place is paradise. From the streets lined with large oak trees draped with spanish moss, to the winding bike trails through the woods, not to mention the expansive sugary sand beach, this island is relaxation at its finest. It was my honor to capture this sweet time in their lives for them. The icing on the cake was that one of these family members is my dear friend from college that I haven't seen in over 7 years. I had so much fun meeting her kids and catching up after the shoot. She is the type of friend that no matter how many years go by of not seeing eachother, you can still pick up right where you left off.
Whenever you book a shoot with me, i'm always watching the weather forecast the week before the shoot. All week long rain and thunderstorms were predicted, but everyday the storms kept getting pushed back to the next day, and the next day. Thankfully, the storms never came and it was the perfect summer evening with the perfect breeze. One of my favorite things about this session was that so many beautiful moments happened organically with this family...Grandpa got down in the sand with his grandsons, parents snuggled their little ones, and mom and dad snuck away for a peaceful walk at sunset. Isn't this everything you love about family vacation? I know it must be these moments that keep them coming back to this beautiful location year after year.
